A thirty-three-year-old Indian student was returning home to London when she was struck by a truck. Cheistha Kochhar was a London School of Economics PhD candidate. She had previously been employed with NITI Aayog, a public policy think tank.
Her death was revealed by her former CEO of NITI Aayog, Amitabh Kant, in his ‘X’ handle post. Kant said that Cheistha Kochar and he collaborated on the NITI Aayog LIFE initiative. He also said that she had gone to the LSE to complete her Ph.D. in behavioral science while working in the Nudge unit.
She died while riding in a horrible traffic accident in London. She was always vibrant, intelligent, bold, and full of life. She passed away too soon, the former CEO said. Kochhar was hit by a garbage truck on March 19.
Her husband, Prashant, was ahead of her when the accident happened, and he hurried to help her. She passed away right away. In order to share testimonials and memories with her, her father, Lt Gen SP Kochhar (retired), shared a link on LinkedIn when he was in London collecting her body.
According to her LinkedIn page, she was employed as a senior advisor in the National Behavioural Insights Unit of India at NITI Aayog from 2021 to 2023.
