South Korean Defence Minister Kim Yong-hyun resigned today after the turmoil caused by President Yoon Suk Yeol’s brief imposition of martial law. The president’s office confirmed that Kim’s resignation was accepted, and his dismissal was approved. Choi Byung-hyuk, South Korea’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, has been nominated as the new defence minister, according to the office.
