Odisha Government Restricts Coastal Fishing For 60 Days

The Odisha government has imposed a 2-month ban on marine fishing along its 484-km coast till June 14 to allow fish breeding. Over 6,000 mechanized vessels, including 1,726 trawlers, are restricted under the Orissa Marine Fishing Regulation Act. Officials said the move, though impacting livelihoods, aims to ensure long-term sustainability and higher fish yield.
