74-year-old Savitri Jindal, who is known as India’s richest woman, will contest in the Haryana assembly polls as an independent candidate.
To this extent, she filed her nomination from the Hisar assembly constituency. Denied the BJP ticket, Jindal prepared to contest as an independent candidate. In fact, she was elected to the Haryana Assembly on behalf of the Congress twice from Hisar.
Savitri, born on March 20, 1950, in Hisar, Haryana, is one of India’s most prominent industrialists and is recognized as the country’s richest woman.
She is the Chairperson of the Jindal Group, a conglomerate with interests spanning steel, power, cement, and infrastructure. Her leadership and business acumen have been instrumental in the group’s growth, establishing it as a major player in the Indian industrial sector.
Savitri entered the business world following the death of her husband, Om Prakash Jindal, in 2005. Under her leadership, the Jindal Group has expanded significantly, making substantial contributions to various industries.
In addition to her business achievements, Savitri Jindal has been actively involved in public life. She has served as a Member of the Haryana Legislative Assembly, representing the Hisar constituency from the Indian National Congress party.
