Extensive Security Arrangements
In anticipation of the Independence Day celebrations, Delhi Police have implemented robust security measures. Over 3,000 traffic police officers and more than 10,000 personnel from various police units will be deployed throughout the capital. Additionally, 700 AI-powered facial recognition cameras will be strategically placed to bolster security.
The Delhi Police have also heightened vigilance at key locations, including IGI Airport, railway stations, bus stands, malls, and markets. Special attention will be given to traffic regulation with 3,000 officers assigned to manage congestion around major junctions and routes leading to the Red Fort.
Advanced Security Measures
To ensure the safety of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other dignitaries, elite SWAT commandos, snipers, and kite catchers will be stationed at critical points. The 700 AI-based facial recognition cameras will feature high-resolution pan-tilt-zoom capabilities, allowing for real-time identification of individuals from a distance. These cameras will be installed both inside and around the Red Fort to maintain a secure environment.
In addition to physical security measures, police will use a smartphone-based application to verify the identity of attendees, further enhancing the event’s security.
Recent Developments
In a related security update, Delhi Police recently apprehended Rizwan Abdul Haji Ali, a wanted terrorist associated with the Pune module of ISIS. Ali was arrested on a tip-off near the Delhi-Faridabad border. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had previously offered a reward of Rs 3 lakh for information leading to his arrest. Authorities suspect that Ali was involved in reconnaissance for potential attacks on VIPs in the Delhi-NCR region.
These comprehensive security measures underscore the commitment to ensuring a safe and secure Independence Day celebration at the Red Fort, reflecting both the scale of the event and the importance of maintaining public safety.
