President Murmu Confers Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowships and Awards

President Droupadi Murmu conferred the Sangeet Natak Academy Fellowships and Awards for the years 2022 and 2023 in New Delhi. During the ceremony, she emphasized the multifaceted significance of art, highlighting its social impact and potential to uplift the human spirit.

President Murmu acknowledged the historical instances where artists leveraged their craft for social good, contributing to societal awakening. She lauded Indian art forms as a powerful expression of the nation’s cultural heritage and “soft power.”

Addressing the growing concerns of mental health, the President suggested a potential link between excessive emphasis on material gain and the rise of stress and depression. She proposed that engaging with art fosters creativity, offering a path to self-discovery and imbuing life with meaning.

President Murmu further commended the role of art and artists in weaving India’s diverse tapestry into a unified whole, thereby fulfilling the fundamental duties enshrined in the Constitution.
