Senior BJP leader Jishnu Dev Varma officially took the oath as the new governor of Telangana State at a special ceremony conducted at Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad on Wednesday. The Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court, Justice Alok Aradhe, has administered the oath of office to Varma.
Jishnu Dev joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in the early 1990s, during the Sri Ram Janmabhoomi movement. He was made the national general secretary of the BJP in 1993.
Varma was born on August 15, 1957, and he was one of the senior politicians in Tripura. It is known that he also served as the 2nd Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura from 2018 to 2023.
He was elected from the Charilam constituency in the Tripura Legislative Assembly Assembly, and he is also the President of the Badminton Association of India. President Droupadi Murmu on Saturday, July 27, appointed new governor for Telangana.
In fact, JD Varma is a member of the Tripura royal family, and he was married to Sudha Devvarma. The couple has two sons, namely Pratik Kishore Dev Varma and Jaibant Dev Varma.
