Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has announced the formation of a committee led by the Chief Secretary to tackle various issues concerning coaching institutes in the national capital. This initiative follows the tragic incident where three students lost their lives in a flooded basement of a Civil Service coaching center located in Old Rajinder Nagar during heavy rainfall.
The committee will consist of 5-6 representatives from coaching institutions, student representatives, and officials from relevant departments. According to the Governor’s office, “This committee will comprehensively address all the issues related to regulation, exorbitant rental by landlords, fire clearances, desilting of drains and other immediate needs of the students to create a conducive educational environment fulfilling all parameters.”
In addition to addressing immediate safety concerns, the proposal includes the establishment of an educational hub where all coaching institutes will be relocated to ensure better management and oversight.
