The High Court of Delhi issued a notice to yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Friday. A petition has been filed alleging the Patanjali’s herbal toothpaste, which contains meat-eating ingredients.
There were allegations that the toothpaste contained Samudrafen (Sepia officinalis) despite being labeled as vegetarian. Due to the reason, the Delhi High Court has issued notices to FSSAI along with yoga guru Ramdev Baba.
Ramdev Baba, born as Ram Kisan Yadav, is a renowned Indian yoga guru who gained immense popularity for promoting yoga and Ayurveda across India and abroad.
In 2006, Randev Baba co-founded Patanjali Ayurved with Acharya Balkrishna, which quickly became one of India’s leading consumer goods companies.
Notably, Patanjali products are known for being natural, Ayurvedic, and often marketed as healthier alternatives to mainstream products. The brand offers a wide range of items, including food products, cosmetics, healthcare items, and personal care products.
Patanjali’s emphasis on ‘Swadeshi’ or indigenous products has resonated with many consumers, helping it carve out a significant market share in India.
Despite facing competition from established brands and occasional controversies, Patanjali continues to be a key player in the Indian FMCG sector, with a vision to expand globally and promote traditional Indian wisdom.
