Following Khan is South Indian star Thalapathy Vijay, who secured the second spot on the list of top tax-payers. Vijay paid ₹80 crore in taxes this year, marking a notable contribution in the entertainment industry. Salman Khan, another major Bollywood figure, ranks third, with a tax payment of ₹75 crore.
Amitabh Bachchan, revered as the “Superstar of the Century,” holds the fourth position. He contributed ₹71 crore in taxes, bolstered by his recent success with the film “Kalki 2898 AD,” which has been one of the biggest hits of the year.
In the realm of sports, Virat Kohli stands out as the top tax-paying athlete in India, paying ₹66 crore in taxes. This substantial amount places him fifth on the overall list, reflecting his prominent status in the sports industry.
The top 10 tax-paying celebrities in India for FY2024 also include Ajay Devgn, who paid ₹42 crore, and Ranbir Kapoor with a tax contribution of ₹36 crore. Devgn’s film releases this year, including the hit “Shaitan” and the less successful “Maidaan,” highlight his varied performance at the box office. Ranbir Kapoor’s last appearance was in “Animal” in late 2023, with his next project slated for 2025.
Other notable mentions in the top 10 include MS Dhoni, who paid ₹38 crore in taxes, and Hrithik Roshan and Sachin Tendulkar, who both contributed ₹28 crore each. These figures underscore the significant financial contributions of celebrities across both film and sports industries in India.
