Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese took to X to express his concern, stating, “The incident at former President Trump’s campaign event in Pennsylvania today is concerning and confronting. Violence has no place in the democratic process. I am relieved to hear reports that former President Trump is now safe.” According to The Hill, Trump was on stage at the campaign rally in Butler when gunshots interrupted the event. Secret Service agents swiftly moved in to secure him, visibly injured, and escorted him offstage amid the chaos.
The US Secret Service reported that one spectator was killed, another critically injured, and investigations into the incident are ongoing. Hours after the shooting, Trump himself confirmed that a bullet grazed the upper part of his ear.
Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, and his spouse expressed their dismay over the incident, with Netanyahu stating, “Sara and I were appalled by the apparent attack on President Trump. We offer prayers for his protection and quick healing.” Along with denouncing the violence, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said, “We send our best wishes to President Trump and his family and are outraged by the awful sights at his rally.
