RTI Reveals CBI Isn’t Investigating Karnataka Bank Scam, Contradicting Siddaramaiah
In a twist to the ongoing scandal involving the Bengaluru-based Sri Guru Raghavendra Sahakara Bank Niyamitha (SGRSBN) cooperative bank, an RTI response from the CBI has revealed that the agency is not investigating the case.
In a twist to the ongoing scandal involving the Bengaluru-based Sri Guru Raghavendra Sahakara Bank Niyamitha (SGRSBN) cooperative bank, an RTI response from the CBI has revealed that the agency is not investigating the case.
This response contradicts Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s earlier assertion that the CBI was handling the matter. This development comes amid controversy surrounding Siddaramaiah’s approval for prosecuting in the alleged Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam.
The Karnataka High Court has deferred proceedings in that case until August 29, offering some respite to the CM. Siddaramaiah, who claimed in December that the SGRSBN bank scam was transferred to the CBI, a statement that has now disappointed depositors who were hoping for the agency’s intervention to uncover the truth and secure justice.
The depositors had pinned their hopes on the CBI investigation to address the scam’s impact on their lives. Siddaramaiah, who had previously demanded a CBI probe through protests when he was the Leader of the Opposition, expressed that the bank’s fraudulent activities had left thousands of depositors uncertain about their futures.
He stated that he had advocated for a CBI investigation to ensure a thorough inquiry and justice for the affected individuals.
