Prime Minister Modi today offered special prayers at the prestigious Ranganathaswamy Temple in Srirangam, Tamil Nadu. In this regard, PM Modi arrived in Tiruchirappalli this morning. On the way, PM Modi got a grand welcome from a huge crowd of people, and PM Modi acknowledged the crowd, waving to them from his convoy.
Earlier, the Chief Priest of Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, Sundar Bhattar, conveyed his immense happiness over PM Modi’s scheduled visit to this temple. Bhattar stressed that all devotees of India are extremely happy that our PM is visiting the Srirangam temple. He also said that PM Modi cares for everyone’s welfare, just like Lord Ranganatha. He also asserted that it was the first time a prime minister had visited the temple.
According to the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Srirangam is considered the biggest functioning Hindu temple in the world. The Ranganathaswamy Temple is constructed in Hindu architectural style, and it follows and worships the Thenkalai tradition of Sri Vaishnavism. It is known that Ramanuja (11th century), one of the most celebrated theologians of Hinduism, made his monastic home by the temple at Srirangam.
