Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Dharmendra Sharma has urged everyone to use their right to vote and emphasized how crucial it is to have a voter list free of errors. At a meeting held here on Friday, Sharma reviewed the general election preparation efforts as well as the special summary revision of the voter list (SSR) for 2024. He declared that it was critical to inform and motivate all eligible voters to cast ballots in the next elections. He informed the officials that after looking at previous low polling percentages at the constituency and booth levels, the reasons for the low numbers should be investigated and appropriate action taken to raise the polling percentage. According to the Election Commission’s instructions, programs for Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) would be implemented. For the election process to go successfully, he stated, an extensive and strong election management plan (EMP) is necessary. Technology platforms are currently crucial for managing elections and compiling voter lists, according to Sharma. Employees and officers need to be familiar with the applications for voter turnout, counting votes, ESMS, Suvidha, Encore, C Whistle, and ETPBMS. For the poll workers, training sessions would be held. Mukesh Meena, the chief electoral officer of the state, stated that the state is conducting a transparent special summary review of the electoral roll for 2024. Applications from a wide range of people have been submitted to have names included. It’s being resolved, he said. He stated that since the final list was released on January 5 of this year, about 90 lakh applications had been received. 89 lakh of these applications have seen a response. According to him, the remaining applications will be processed by December 26. District collectors provided a PowerPoint presentation on SSR-2024 and the preparations for the general election, while SPs discussed the legal and order concerns of the 2024 polls.
