The Election Commission overturned the suspension of Anjani Kumar, the former Telangana DGP, on Tuesday. After taking into account an appeal that the chief police officer filed, the electoral body removed the suspension. Anjani Kumar was suspended by the Election Commission on December 3 for violating the model code of conduct (MCC) by hosting Congress candidate and current Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy at his residence during the state Assembly election count. The ECI has also suspended Mahesh M. Bhagwat and Sanjay Kumar Jain, two state police officials, in addition to Anjani Kumar. After Anjani Kumar was suspended, senior IPS officer Ravi Gupta was given more authority as the state DGP.
