A Member of Parliament (MP) from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Galla Jayadev, has officially confirmed that he is quitting active politics. Interestingly, Jayadev made the statement just a few months before the Assembly and Lok Sabha polls in Andhra Pradesh.
It is known that Galla Jayadev joined the TDP just before the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, along with his mother and former minister, Aruna Kumari. Jayadev was elected to Lok Sabha from Guntur parliamentary constituency in 2014 and again retained his seat in the 2019 polls.
Galla Jayadev, who is the Lok Sabha member from Guntur, is also the current TDP parliamentary party leader. Galla Jayadev, who is one of the top industrialists in the state, revealed on Sunday that he will focus on business as he does not want to continue as a part-time politician.
Jayadev is the current Chairman and Managing Director of Amara Raja Batteries. Jayadev also said that his father, Ramachandra Naidu Galla, retired from business two years ago, and he had to take the decision to quit politics to focus on business. Jayadev had declared assets of Rs 683 crore, as he is one of the wealthiest MPs in India.
