Purandeswari Pays Floral Tribute To Late CM NTR On His Death Anniversary
NTR got three prestigious National Film Awards for co-producing 'Thodu Dongalu' (1954), 'Seetharama Kalyanam' (1960), and directing 'Varakatnam' (1970).
The Andhra Pradesh state BJP chief Daggubati Purandeswari today paid a floral tribute to the late CM Nandamuri Tarakara Rao’s (NTR) statue at Patamata NTR Circle in Vijayawada on his death anniversary. Meanwhile, several state BJP leaders and workers joined the grand event, commemorating the legacy of the iconic leader.
Daggubati Purandheswari spoke at a press conference at the event in Vijayawada and stressed that Nandamuri Tarakarama Rao is not just a person but a phenomenon. She highlighted key initiatives such as providing rice to the impoverished for a rupee and ensuring poor people’s sustenance. She also said that numerous welfare programs were implemented for the overall development of the state.
In fact, Nandamuri Tarakarama Rao, fondly known as ‘NTR’, was an Indian veteran actor, producer, director, and editor. NTR was also a great politician who served as the chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh for seven years. NTR got three prestigious National Film Awards for co-producing ‘Thodu Dongalu’ (1954), ‘Seetharama Kalyanam’ (1960), and directing ‘Varakatnam’ (1970).
It is known that Daggubati Purandheswari is the second daughter of the late CM NTR. Purandeswari is a widely respected politician in both Telugu states and is currently serving as the AP state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Earlier, Purandheswari represented the Indian National Congress in the Lok Sabha and also served as a Union Minister during the UPA regime.
