In a big setback to the ruling YSR Congress party, Narasaraopet MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayulu has officially resigned from the ruling YSRCP. Ahead of the Assembly and Lok Sabha polls in Andhra Pradesh, Srikrishna Devarayalu also resigned from the Lok Sabha membership as Narasaraopet MP.
According to political sources, Srikrishna Devarayalu is likely to join the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) soon. Interestingly, Devarayalu is the third MP of the ruling YSRCP party to declare his exit in the last 15 days. However, Devarayalu contested and won the 2019 elections from Narasararaopet on behalf of the YSRCP.
Meanwhile, the YSRCP is planning to field a BC candidate from Narasaraopet, with Nagarjuna Yadav’s name being mentioned. However, leaders from Palnadu district and a few MLAs under the Narasaraopet Lok Sabha constituency have expressed their opinion that it would be better for Devarayalu to continue for the MP post.
It is known that Devarayalu is the first-time MP to win with a margin of over 1.50 lakh in the 2019 polls. In fact, Devarayalu is also the vice chairman of Vignans University. Meanwhile, the YSRC leadership is mulling to give Narasaraopet MP ticket to a BC candidate and asked Devarayalu to shift to Guntur.
