Stones were pelted on the Vande Bharat Express train near Tirunelveli station today, February 5. Stones were pelted at the Vande Bharat running from Chennai to Tirunelveli near Maniachi Railway Station. The stone-pelting incident shattered window glasses, which raised serious concerns for passenger safety.
According to the railway officials, several glasses from at least 9 coaches were damaged in this attack. No passengers have been injured in the incident, and the railway police have registered a case and are investigating.
The railway officials said that some miscreants attacked the Vande Bharat train with stones when the train was crossing Maniachi station early this morning. During the incident, the windowpane of an executive class coach and the glass window of the executive chair were also broken.
It is known that the Chennai-Tirunelveli Vande Bharat train covers a distance of 650 km between the cities in 7 hours and 50 minutes. As per the schedule, this train operates six days a week and stops at six stations, namely Tambaram, Villupuram, Trichy, Dindigul, Madurai, and Virudhunagar.
