Stock market: NSE, BSE Will Be Closed Ahead Of ‘Pran Pratishtha’ Ceremony
Earlier, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced a stock market holiday on January 22, 2024, to mark the inauguration ceremony of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir.
The Indian domestic stock market is closed today ahead of ‘the’Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony in Ayodhya Ram temple. With this decision, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Exchange (NSE) will remain closed today, January 22. In fact, the auspicious ceremony of Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha in Ayodhya will be held today between 12.15 PM and 12.45 PM.
Earlier, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced a stock market holiday on January 22, 2024, to mark the inauguration ceremony of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir. However, the RBI also stressed that there would be no transactions and settlements in government securities, foreign exchange, money markets, or rupee interest rate derivatives on January 22.
In addition to that, the Government of Maharashtra has declared January 22, 2024, a public holiday under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881. With this, the settlement of all outstanding transactions will accordingly be postponed to the next working day, Tuesday, January 23, 2024.
The Indian domestic stock market ended with huge gains on January 19, 2024. By closing time, the Sensex gained 496 points and stood at 71,683.23 points, and the Nifty gained 160 points and stood at 21,622.40 points. However, the Indian rupee stood at 83.07 against the dollar.
