The Indian Metrological Department (IMD) predicted that the national capital will witness a severe cold wave today, January 13, which will then reduce to a cold wave tomorrow, January 14, 2024. The IMD has also predicted the maximum temperature to be 19 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature to be 5 degrees Celsius today, January 13.
Amid the severe cold wave conditions, many trains were delayed in reaching Delhi, including the Mumbai CSMT-Amritsar Express train, which is running delayed by 4 hours. Other delayed trains also include the Dakshin Express train, the Malwa Express train, and the Khajuraho-Kurukshetra Express train.
In addition to that, flight operations were hampered today via the Indira Gandhi International Airport as many flights were delayed due to dense fog. Further, moderate fog encompassed the runway, not hurting the visibility of flights.
Notably, the Indian Metrological Department predicted there would be a gradual fall of 2–3 °C in minimum temperatures over many parts of Central and East India during the next 3 days. However, minimum temperatures had remained in the range of 3–7 °C over most parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi in the last few days.
