Famous classical music singer Prabha Atre passed away today in Pune, Maharashtra. Prabha Atre was 92 years old and died due to a heart attack. After suffering a heart attack, Atre was taken to Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune, and the singer breathed her last this morning. However, Atre’s relatives are currently abroad, and after their return to Pune, her last rites will be performed in Pune on Tuesday.
Veteran classical singer Prabha Atre was born on September 13, 1932, in Pune. Atre got the Padma Shri award in 1990, Padma Bhushan in 2002, and Padma Vibhushan in 2022. Recently, on December 25, 2023, Atre was also given the Atal Sanskriti Award by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
In fact, Atre did her graduation in science and law and also had a doctorate degree in music. Atre has been taking an interest in classical music since she was eight years old, and at that time, her mother, Indirabhai Atre, had fallen ill and was advised by their friends to listen to classical music to improve her health.
