India’s first hydrogen-powered train will be launched in December 2024, marking a significant step towards sustainable travel. Powered by hydrogen fuel cells, it emits only steam and water, reducing carbon emissions. The train’s trial run will be on the 90 km Jind-Sonipat route in Haryana, with speeds reaching 140 km/h. Indian Railways plans to expand this fleet, with 35 hydrogen trains expected by 2025.
