MEA Reports Sharp Rise In Indian Citizenship Renunciations

The Ministry of External Affairs informed Parliament that 9 lakh Indians have renounced their citizenship in the past five years, marking a steady rise. Between 2011 and 2019, 11.89 lakh people gave up Indian citizenship. Minister of State for Home Kirti Vardhan Singh noted that over 20 lakh individuals have renounced their citizenship in the last 14 years.
