India has established a strong badminton legacy at the Olympics, thanks to Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu. In the last three Games, India has secured a women's singles medal: Saina in London 2012, Sindhu in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said today that the country is pleased with its youth achieving new heights in sports, noting that India's top-ranked player, R Praggnanandhaa, would face reigning World Champion Magnus Carlsson in 2023.
