A total of forty-seven opposition MPs were suspended for the remaining winter session due to misconduct and not obeying the directions of the Chair.
For their misbehavior and refusal to follow the Chair’s instructions, 47 opposition MPs were suspended for the duration of the winter session. The motion to suspend these MPs was made by Pralhad Joshi, the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs.
BJP MP Rajendra Agrawal, presiding over the House’s reorganization at 3 p.m. following earlier adjournments, stated that the MPs had been disobeying the norms. “With your permission, I move the following: this House has taken severe notice of the misbehavior of ET Mohammed Basheer, A Raja, Dayanidhi Maran, Afrooq Poddar, Prasoon Banerjee, and Kalyan Bannerjee.
Regarding the house, G Selvam, CN Annadurai, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary, T Sumathy, K Navaskami, K Ravirasami, NK Premchandran, Saugata Roy, Ashit Kumar, Shatabdi Roy, Kaushendra Kumar, Anto Antony, SS Pallimanickam, Amar Singh, Rajamohan, Gaurav Gogai, Sunil Mandal, Ramlimgam, K Suresh, Pratibha Mandal, Kakoli Ghosh, K Muralidharan, and TR Baluand
the chair’s power, such as the play card display in the house and their designation by the chair, decide that the aforementioned members may also be barred from the house for the duration of the session under Rule 374(2),” Joshi stated.
