Despite offering more than INR 20 crore for the outstanding cricket player, Australia skipper Pat Cummins was not acquired by RCB; nonetheless, they were able to sign Yash Dayal and Alazarri Joseph. Some fans were not pleased with RCB's choice to place hefty bids for Dayal and Joseph, questioning the team's tactics during the auction.

However, RCB coach Andy Flower has explained why, after signing Dayal and Joseph, the squad was so keen on them at the auction. Regarding Yash Dayal, we saw a hint of his skill last year, particularly with regard to swing and his capacity to take wickets with the new ball. Though we believe he has a lot of talent and expect great things from him, I am aware that he has wrestled with death on times,” he said on Jio Cinema. Flower also spoke on the team’s choice to sign Joseph following their failure to sign Cummins at the auction.
