Dhyan Chand’s influence on the sport was so profound that August 29, his birthday, is celebrated as National Sports Day in India. Despite his global fame, Dhyan Chand remained humble and dedicated to the game, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire generations of athletes.
The Government of India also honors outstanding athletes with the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award, the highest sporting honor in the country.
