Former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly reported a missing phone to the Thakurpur police station in Kolkata on Saturday, suspecting theft. The phone, valued at ₹1.6 lakh, disappeared from his Behala residence.
Expressing deep concern, Ganguly noted the phone contained “multiple contact numbers and access to personal information and accounts.” He urged the police to “take appropriate action,” including tracing the phone or securing his data.
“I last saw the phone around 11:30 am on January 19th,” Ganguly told HT Bangla during the report. “I searched for it extensively but couldn’t find it. I’m worried about the potential misuse of my information and accounts.”
Ganguly also recently shared his views on the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup, which India hasn’t hosted. He acknowledged the tournament’s lack of significant profit but clarified that its purpose lies in spreading the game globally, not just generating revenue. He debunked rumors that India refrains due to financial reasons and hinted at a potential future hosting bid.
