Steve Smith To Captain Australia If Cummins Misses Ashes

Ahead of the 2025–26 Ashes, Australia’s chief selector George Bailey confirmed Steve Smith will captain if Pat Cummins remains sidelined with a back injury. He said Cummins will still stay involved with the team during recovery. Bailey also noted Cameron Green’s precautionary rest, with Labuschagne replacing him for the India ODI series.
