The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has introduced a new rule during IPL 2026 restricting movement of benched players. Only the 16 players named on the match sheet can enter the field or carry drinks, bats, or messages. Substitute players outside this group must remain in the dugout, and no more than five players may move near the boundary.
