Social Justice Day: Why We Need To Celebrate?

World Social Justice Day serves as a platform for raising awareness of social justice issues worldwide, the UN General Assembly declared that February 20 will be celebrated annually as the World Social Justice day. It began with the sixty-third session of the general assembly.

More than a hundred leaders pledged to oppose the root causes of injustice at the summit. and to work for a safe society. The day promotes raising voices against inequality, and religious discrimination. Social justice deals with several political, economic, and social rights. It brings access to good healthcare, education, social protection, and better employment opportunities.

Several organizations such as UNGA, the American Library Association (ALA), and the International Labour Organization (ILO), conduct events to spotlight the importance of social justice and also plan for the future by tackling poverty, and unemployment. The theme of this day is Building Alliances, Bridging Gaps. And this day is considered an opportunity to build a better world for everyone. and everyone has the opportunity to reach their goal. This day is annually observed aiming to promote equity, fairness, and inclusion for all.
