Union Minister Giriraj Singh Compares CM Mamata To Kim Jong Un

Union Minister and BJP leader Giriraj Singh made a controversial comparison between West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, asserting that both leaders share a common trait: an inability to tolerate opposition. Singh’s remarks were prompted by Banerjee’s recent statement warning that unrest in Bengal could have repercussions for neighboring states, including Assam, Uttar Pradesh, and others.

Singh criticized Banerjee’s language, stating, “This can’t be the language of a democratic person, of a Chief Minister.” He emphasized that just as Kim Jong Un suppresses dissent, Banerjee similarly dismisses opposing viewpoints.

Banerjee’s comments had already elicited a strong reaction from Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who accused her of using divisive rhetoric. Sarma responded on social media, admonishing Banerjee not to threaten Assam and criticizing her for what he termed her “politics of failure.”

This exchange highlights the ongoing political tensions between the BJP and the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, with both sides accusing each other of inflammatory rhetoric and divisive politics.
