BSP president and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati has voiced her concern over the escalating incidents of crimes against women across the country, including states like Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Odisha, and Karnataka. She questioned the intentions and policies of governments regarding women’s safety and respect.
Mayawati stated that it is deeply saddening to see the narrow politics of allegations and counter-allegations on these increasing crimes, when it is the time for serious introspection. She suggested that there seems to be a grave flaw in the intentions and policies of governments when it comes to ensuring women’s safety and respect.
The BSP chief also pointed out that the “negligence” of governments and the “involvement” of police in such heinous crimes happening one after the other is making the situation even more serious. She appealed to the governments of Uttar Pradesh and various other states to take the matter seriously and act with utmost gravity.
Mayawati’s remarks come in the wake of rising concerns over women’s safety across the country. The BSP has consistently raised the issue of crimes against women in its National Executive meetings, emphasizing the need for effective measures to ensure women’s security and dignity.
