Interim Budget Will Be Presented By FM Nirmala Sitharaman Today

What Is Interim Budget?
The interim budget serves as a short-term financial blueprint to fund government spending until elections are held and a new government assumes power. In order to cover the government’s necessary expenses for the first four months of the upcoming fiscal year, the interim budget asks Parliament for approval of an advance grant.

The Union Budget 2024 will be presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Parliament today. Just before the Lok Sabha elections, this budget will serve as an interim one. This Union Budget marks FM Nirmala Sitharaman’s sixth. Following the elections, the newly elected administration will present the complete budget. The short-term financial plan known as the interim budget requests approval from Parliament in order to obtain funding ahead of schedule for the government’s necessary spending for the first four months of the upcoming fiscal year. President Droupadi Murmu gave a speech at the joint Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha meeting yesterday to kick off the Budget Session of Parliament. The last day of the session is February 9.
