The Tamil Nadu island controversy escalates as a writ petition has been filed in the Madras High Court to prevent the Kanturi festival at the hilltop dargah of Thiruparankundram Subramanya temple. The petitioner cited previous court orders banning animal sacrifices on the hill and argued that permitting the festival would hurt Hindu sentiments.
