The Election Commission of India has ordered two-level verification of identity documents during voter list hearings in West Bengal starting December 27. Unmapped voters must submit valid IDs, checked first by EROs and then District Magistrates. Officials clearing forged documents may face accountability. The final voters’ list will be published on February 14, 2026.
