Manmohan’s Credit: UPA Govt Waived ₹72,000 Crore In Farm Loans

Ex-PM Manmohan Singh’s UPA govt is credited with waiving off ₹72,000 crore in farm loans for 3 crore farmers across the country. The UPA secured a 2nd term in power in 2009, due to the govt’s decision on the loan waiver. Inspired by this, several state governments won elections by promising similar loan waivers.
