Telangana Plans Cheaper Route To Revive Kaleshwaram Project

Telangana’s irrigation minister Uttam Kumar Reddy announced plans to revive the Kaleshwaram (Pranahita–Chevella) project with a cheaper, revised alignment. The new route could cut costs by 10–12%, saving ₹1,500–1,600 crore and halving land acquisition. It avoids coal-bearing zones, ensuring safer tunnelling and improved technical feasibility.
