Assam Introduces Polygamy Prohibition Bill In Assembly

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has introduced the Assam Prohibition of Polygamy Bill, 2025, in the state assembly, aiming to outlaw polygamy. The opposition Congress, CPI(M) and Raijor Dal MLAs walked out after a debate on singer Zubeen Garg’s death, so the bill was tabled without them, present for further review.
