Odisha’s Koraput Faces Backlash Over Republic Day Meat Ban

The Koraput district administration in Odisha banned the sale of meat, fish, eggs, and other non-vegetarian foods on Republic Day, sparking criticism. Congress MP Saptagiri Ulaka called it “arbitrary and unconstitutional.” The district, with over 50% tribal population, largely consumes non-vegetarian food. Similar bans have occurred earlier during national holidays.
