Ritabrata Banerjee, who won the Uluberia Purba assembly seat on a TMC ticket by defeating BJP’s Rudra Prosad Banerjee by 11,838 votes, began his political career as a student leader to CPI(M)’s SFI and later became a Rajya Sabha MP at the age of 34. Expelled from CPI(M) in 2017 for anti-party activities, he also joined TMC and returned to Parliament in 2024.
