Less than a day after naming Nisha Chatterjee as its Ballygunge candidate for the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, Janata Unnayan Party replaced her. Founder Humayun Kabir announced retired police officer Abu Hasan would contest instead. Chatterjee was dropped because her social media presence did not match the party’s desired image.
