India Rises To 9th In Global Forest Area Rankings

India has climbed to 9th position globally in total forest area in 2025, up from 10th in 2020, as per the Global Forest Resources Assessment (GFRA) 2025. Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav stated that India has retained its 3rd rank in annual forest area gain, highlighting the country’s continued commitment to green growth.
