Why The EC Wants To Launch Special Revision Of Electoral Rolls

The Election Commission has announced a phased Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls nationwide. The process will begin in Assam, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, and West Bengal, which are set for polls in 2026. However, SIR will be excluded in states with ongoing local polls. Specific dates for the revision will be announced soon.
