India Advances Chenab Projects, Pak Warns Of Water “Weaponisation”

India approved the 260-MW Dulhasti Stage-II hydropower project on the Chenab in Kashmir, following suspension of the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan. The run-of-the-river project, costing over Rs 3,200 crore, aims to harness western rivers’ hydropower potential. Islamabad has protested, alleging water disruptions and accusing India of weaponising water.
