Ex-CJI Chandrachud: Judiciary’s Role Is To Only Scrutinize Laws

Former CJI DY Chandrachud stated that the judiciary’s role is to “scrutinise laws,” not to serve as an opposition force in Parliament or state legislatures. His comments came after Rahul Gandhi suggested the opposition was fulfilling the judiciary’s role. Chandrachud also addressed informal post-meeting conversations between judges and politicians, clarifying that such discussions were only human interactions.
