Shiv Pratap Shukla, the newly appointed Governor of Telangana, was born in 1952 in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. He joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 1983 and won as an MLA from Gorakhpur four times between 1989 and 1996. Later, he served as a Rajya Sabha member and Union Minister of State for Finance in the Narendra Modi government.
