Senior officials in Telangana have identified a significant staffing gap in the state police dept, with nearly 17,000 positions currently unfilled. While the sanctioned strength stands at 95,361 personnel, only 77,369 officers are presently serving. Also, the current shortage has mainly resulted from thousands of employees retiring each year.
