Typhoon Yagi, the strongest storm in Asia this year, caused estimated damages of 81.5 trillion dong ($3.31 billion) in northern Vietnam, doubling earlier forecasts. With 299 fatalities, the typhoon devastated industrial hubs, flooded farmland, and damaged homes.
